To improve the recognition quality of newspaper pages, we recommend
scanning them in grayscale mode - the program will determine the required
level of brightness automatically. In grayscale mode, more
information about characters is retained, which makes for better
recognition of medium and poor quality documents.
Newspaper pages usually contain multicolumn text with pictures.
Sometimes sections of the text may be printed over a picture, which may
cause the program to draw blocks incorrectly. For more information on how
