Recognition quality may degrade due
to poor image quality.
Only images of good quality can be recognized successfully. Shoot your
document again if:
- The image is too dark and
low-contrast.
Solution: Try using additional light sources.
Otherwise, open up the aperture.
-
The image is not sharp enough.
Solution:
Autofocus
may not work properly in poor lighting or when trying to shot the document
from a close distance. In poor lighting conditions, try using an additional
light source. When shooting a document from a close distance, try using the
Macro (or Close-Up) mode. Otherwise, focus the camera manually if manual
focus is supported by your camera.
If only part of the picture is
blurred, try a smaller aperture. Increase the distance between the document
and the camera and use the maximum zoom. Focus on a point somewhere in
between the center and a border of the image.
- The flash causes a glare in
the center of the picture.
Solution:
Turn off the flash. Otherwise, try
shooting from a greater distance.
-
The text close to the margin is
distorted.
Solution: Select Tools>Options
and click the
Scan/Open tab. Under Image processing, select Straighten
text lines.
For more information about
the settings of your camera so that
you can get document photos suitable for OCR, see the "Using a Digital
Camera to Photograph Texts".
