Working with User Dictionaries in a LAN

If you work in a local area network, you can store user dictionaries in a shared network folder. Every user who has access to the folder will be able to add these dictionaries to the Bookshelf.

Note: Dictionaries stored on a remote computer cannot be indexed, but a user can use an existing index.

To enable full-text search for shared dictionaries in a LAN:

  1. Add the necessary user dictionary to ABBYY Lingvo on a local computer.
  2. Create an index (select the Update Index…  command in the Dictionaries dialog box).
  3. Copy the dictionary with the index to a shared network folder. Alternatively, copy the dictionary and the index locally to users’ workstations.
