Translate menu

Translate Finds in the word list the closest match the word or phrase you typed in the search field and opens the corresponding entries. The word or phrase may be in any grammatical form. Enter
Translate Text in Search Field Translates the word or phrase typed in the search field. Ctrl+Enter
Open Card Opens the entry of the word selected in the word list. Shift+Enter
Word-by-Word Translation Translates the phrase or sentence typed in the search field word by word. Ctrl+Shift+Enter
Find Searches for the word or phrase in the enabled dictionaries of the current dictionary group. Ctrl+F
Find in All Languages Searches for the word or phrase in the enabled dictionaries. Ctrl+Shift+F
Wildcard Search Finds a word or phrase in the word list matching your search pattern. Ctrl+F3
Show Word Forms… Displays all the grammatical forms (i.e. the paradigm) of the word typed in the search field. Ctrl+W
Spelling Suggestions Displays spelling suggestions for the word typed in the search field. F7
History… Shows search and entry history. Ctrl+H
Exit Quits ABBYY Lingvo. Ctrl+Q

Tools menu

Languages and Dictionaries… Opens the Languages and Dictionaries dialog box. Ctrl+D
Create/Edit Card… Creates or changes an entry in an editable user dictionary. Ctrl+Num+
Always on Top Always keeps the ABBYY Lingvo windows above all other windows. Ctrl+T
Arrange Cards Cascades the cards. Ctrl+R
Close Temporary Cards and Dialog Boxes Closes all temporary cards and dialog boxes. Shift+Esc
Close All Cards and Dialog Boxes Closes both permanent cards and temporary cards. Shift+F2
Run ABBYY Lingvo Tutor… Runs ABBYY Lingvo Tutor. Ctrl+M
Options… Opens the Options dialog box. Ctrl+O

ABBYY Lingvo main window

Moves to the next word or phrase in the word list. Down arrow
Moves to the previous word or phrase in the word list. Up arrow
Reverses the translation direction. Ctrl+I
Creates a new dictionary group. Ctrl+N

Card window

Makes a card window permanent. Ctrl+T
Shows a brief/full translation. Ctrl+Num *
Displays the word forms of the entry headword (for single words only). Ctrl+W
Opens the Find dialog box where you can type a word or phrase to find in the text of the entries displayed in the card window. Ctrl+F
Sends the entry headword to the search field. Ctrl+S
Finds the next occurrence of the word or phrase you typed in the Find dialog box. F3
Goes to the next dictionary. Alt+Down arrow
Goes to the previous dictionary. Alt+Up arrow
Translates the word selected in the card. Enter
Closes the card window. Esc
Selects all the text in the card window. Ctrl+А
Switches between card windows. Ctrl+Tab, Ctrl+Shift+Tab
Expands all entries. F4
Collapses all entries. F5
Plays the recorded pronunciation of a headword. Ctrl+P
Launches ABBYY Lingvo Tutor and opens the Dictionary Card dialog box. Ctrl+M

Opens the card for the selected word. Enter
Sends the selected word to the search field. Ctrl+S
Clears the History dialog box. Ctrl+Num-
Changes the search parameters. Ctrl+O
Moves to the nest/previous search results page. Ctrl+Page Down/Page Up
