Switch between the Essential and Advanced
Account Registers
Money offers
two ways to look at an
account
(A
group of transactions in Money for a single bank, brokerage,
retirement, loan, or credit card account. Accounts can also track
assets such as houses or vehicles, or investments that you want to
watch but do not own. See also watch account.) : the
Essential or the Advanced Account Register. The Essential Register
gives you everything you need to know about your current account
balances
(In
Money, the amount or value of an account as of a specific date. In
the Advanced Account Register, it is the total of all the
transactions in your account register; in the Essential Account
Register, it is the amount in your account according to your bank
the last time your account was updated online.) and
transactions, quickly and easily, without tedious data entry. The
Advanced Register gives you advanced tools that provide powerful
tracking and tax planning, but require more work and effort from
you in order to keep your information in order.
Use these steps to switch an account
between the Essential and Advanced Registers.
- Click Banking, and then click Account
List.
- Click the name of an account.
- In the left pane, under Other tasks, click
Change account settings.
- Under Register Detail, click:
Switch to the Advanced Account Register
-or-
Switch to the Essential Account Register
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
Notes
- The Essential Account Register can be used only for accounts
that you update online.
- The steps above cannot be used for investment accounts. To
switch an online investment account between the Essential and
Advanced Registers, you must first stop using online updates for
the account, and then set up the account again using the
Add a new account link on the Account list page.
When asked to choose account update settings, select Track
positions only to use the Essential Register, or select
Track positions and transactions to use the
Advanced Register.
