Track credit card spending
The easiest way
to track credit card spending is to use online updates from your
credit card provider. Your spending is automatically categorized,
and you can update your information in Money as often (or as
rarely) as you like. Most credit card companies offer online
updates. If yours doesn't, you can enter and categorize your
transactions yourself.
- Click Banking.
- Under Common tasks, click Add a new
account.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
If you aren't using online updates,
you can track total credit card spending or individual
expenditures. Tracking individual expenditures is more work, but it
can help you see how you're spending your money.
- Click Banking.
- Under Common tasks, click Add a new
account.
- Click Credit card, and then click
Next.
- Click My bank or brokerage isn't listed.
- Click Credit Card, and then click
Next.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
On the Would you like Money to AutoBalance this account
for you page, do one of the following:
- To track overall spending, but not individual expenditures,
click Yes, AutoBalance this account.
- To track individual expenditures, click No, don't
AutoBalance this account.
Note
You can change whether an account tracks total spending or every
expenditure by changing the Account Tracking
option on the Change account settings page for the
account.
