Quality options

Use the options on the Quality tab in the CD Drive Properties dialog box to specify the sound quality of items burned to a data CD, and to add or remove volume leveling values in tracks burned to an audio CD or items burned to a data CD. This tab is displayed only if you have selected a CD recorder drive.

The following options for burning data CDs are displayed in the Quality tab in the CD Drive Properties dialog box.

Data CD option Description
Select quality level automatically (recommended) Specifies that the Player automatically set the quality level of files that are burned to your data CD.

Files take longer to burn to the data CD if the Player is converting them from one quality level to another. It is usually best to let the Player automatically set the quality level.

Select quality level Specifies that you set the quality level of items that are burned to the data CD.
Burn playlists as M3U (audio only) Specifies that playlists that are burned to data CDs have an .m3u extension rather than a .wpl extension.

The following option for adding or removing volume leveling values to files burned to CDs is displayed in the Quality tab in the CD/DVD Drive Properties dialog box.

Volume leveling option Description
Apply volume leveling to music when it is burned This option adds volume leveling values in tracks burned to an audio CD or items burned to a data CD to enable the files to play back at a similar volume level.

This option is turned on by default.
