Contents pane

A component of the Library feature, the Contents pane displays the categories in your library, such as All Music.

The files in your library are automatically grouped into the following categories:

Each category, with the exception of Other Media and Now Playing, contains subcategories.

The All Pictures category is created in the Contents pane when you create a synchronization partnership with a device that supports picture viewing or when you enable picture support for devices.
A category is created in the Contents pane after you synchronize content to the device for the first time. The category name is the same as the device name and the subcategories are the playlists that you selected to be synchronized.
When you purchase files from online stores, links to the purchased files on your computer are created in subcategories in your library. For example, you can find the music files that you purchased in the Purchased Music subcategory in All Music and the video files that you purchased in the Purchased Videos subcategory in All Video.
