To remove duplicate links from your library

Sometimes, duplicate links appear in your library if you remove a linked item from your computer without removing the corresponding link in your library, and then you add the item to your library again. Perform the following procedure to remove the link that corresponds to the previously deleted item.

  1. On the File menu, point to Add to Library, and then click By Searching Computer.
  2. In the Search on list, click the folder or drive where the previously deleted item was stored, and then click Search.

    Links for items that were previously deleted from the folder or drive are removed from your library. Searching can take a few minutes if you have a large library.
