How To...Print Confidential Documents

Selecting the Secure Print job option within the printer driver enables you to automatically hold a document within the printer's internal queue until you are ready to retrieve your job. The document won't print until you enter a passcode at the printer control panel to release the job for printing.

To send a Secure Print job, you need an identification number, or passcode. This number (ranging from four to ten digits, as determined by your System Administrator) can be any numeric value using the numbers 0 through 9.

The Secure Print settings remain in effect for all print jobs until you select a different Job Type and exit the printer driver.

To print confidential documents:

  1. Open the driver from your application's Print dialog Properties.

  2. On the Paper/Output tab, select Secure Print from the Job Type list.

  3. Click Secure Print Setup. The Secure Print Setup dialog opens.

  4. Enter an identification number in the dialog box.

  5. Re-enter the same number to confirm your Secure Print Passcode.

  6. Click OK to close the Secure Print Setup dialog. Click OK to submit the print job. The job is held at the printer.
