Using Memory Cards to Store Dictionaries

If there is not enough onboard memory on your Palm device and it supports external memory cards, you can install all or some of the dictionaries on external memory cards.

To install dictionaries on an external memory card:

  1. Plug in the memory card on which you wish to install dictionaries.
  2. Run the PDA Setup Manager on your desktop PC (Start>Programs>ABBYY Lingvo 12>PDA Setup Manager>Palm® Handheld).
  3. Select the dictionaries you wish to install.
  4. Specify that you wish to store system dictionaries on an external memory card.

Important! If your Palm device runs under Palm OS® 5.0, you may want to use an alternative installation method consisting in copying dictionaries onto external memory cards by means of a Card Reader device or by using a third-party application.

Using Several Memory Cards

The most convenient method of storing ABBYY Lingvo 12 for Palm Handheld dictionaries is in onboard memory or on one memory card. However, with some limitations, ABBYY Lingvo 12 for Palm Handheld allows you to use dictionaries stored on several memory cards.

Install the required dictionaries on several memory cards and connect the card with those dictionaries that you need at the moment. At each given moment you will be able to work with the dictionaries stored in onboard memory and with the dictionaries stored on the memory card currently connected to your Palm device. We recommend closing ABBYY Lingvo 12 for Palm Handheld before connecting/disconnecting, changing memory cards.
