Plug-ins

Option	Description
Category	Lists the available plug-in categories.
*Category* list (the rightmost list), where Category is the plug-in category that you selected.	Lists the plug-ins in the selected category.
Properties	Click to change the properties of the selected plug-in. The specific properties you can change vary by plug-in.
Remove	Click to delete the selected plug-in. Some plug-ins cannot be removed, such as the visualizations that are included in Windows Media Player by default.
Add	Click to add a plug-in from a location that you specify.

Some plug-ins, such as audio digital signal processing (DSP) plug-ins, can be manually enabled or disabled. Essentially, this allows you to turn an effect on or off whenever you want. Other plug-ins, such as visualizations and renderer plug-ins, cannot be manually enabled or disabled. These plug-ins remain enabled as long as they are installed on your computer. Although they are enabled (that is, they are available to perform some function), they generally are only "turned on" when you take some specific action in the Player (for example, choosing to view a particular visualization or playing a type of content that requires the use of a specific renderer plug-in).
When renderer plug-ins are activated, they are identified as "loaded." This information can be useful when troubleshooting a third-party plug-in that is not operating as expected.
