To add items to your library

To Do this
Add links to audio and video files on your computer or network
  1. On the File menu, point to Add to Library, and then click By Searching Computer.
  2. Complete the information in the Add To Library by Searching Computer dialog box, and then click Search.
Add tracks from a CD Insert a CD into the CD drive, click Rip, and then click the Rip Music button Rip Music button.
Add an individual file, playlist, or folder On the File menu, point to Add to Library, and then click one of the following commands:
  • Add Folder. Find the folder that you want to add.
  • Add File or Playlist. Find the file or playlist that you want to add.
  • Add URL. Enter the URL to the file, including the file name.
Add a file or playlist while it is playing On the File menu, point to Add to Library, and then click one of the following commands:
  • Add Currently Playing Item
  • Add Currently Playing Playlist
Automatically add digital media files from folders that you want the Player to monitor
  1. On the File menu, point to Add to Library, and then click By Monitoring Folders.

    The monitoring folder feature is only available on drives formatted with NTFS.

  2. In the Monitor Folders dialog box, click Add to select the folders that you want the Player to monitor.
Add a file from My Computer or the desktop Drag the file to a Category or playlist in the Contents pane or to the Details pane, or right-click the item, and then click Add to Playlist.

  • When you drag files to the Details pane, a New Items category is created in the Contents pane with links to the files.
