Working with lists and playlists

A playlist is a customized list of digital media files that you want to listen to or watch.

An auto playlist is a playlist to which the Player automatically adds items based on criteria that you specify. Auto playlists are updated each time that you open them. By default, the Library feature contains several auto playlists.

By using playlists, you can group files together and specify the order that you want the files to play in. For example, you can create a playlist that includes several tracks from various CDs and a video clip.

You can use the List pane in the Library feature to quickly create and edit playlists, or create a temporary playlist.

In the List pane, you can also easily create a list of items to burn to a CD, or a list of items to synchronize to a portable device.
