TrueType is a trademark for a font technology developed by Apple which enables fonts to be scaled or modified without causing distortion on the screen or in print. TrueType font options are controlled through the Advanced Tab.
To Download TrueType Fonts:
Open the driver from the Printer folder Properties.
Click Advanced.
Expand the Document Options group.
From the TrueType font group, choose one of the following:
Substitute with Device Font—Select this option to use the fonts residing on the printer rather than downloading fonts with the print job.
Download as Softfont—This setting downloads all TrueType fonts to the printer with each print job, even if those fonts reside on the printer already.
If you want to create a more portable PostScript file for printers that cannot process TrueType fonts, you should send fonts as Outline fonts. In addition, the driver will automatically download smaller point sizes as bitmaps to reduce printing time and optimize memory usage. The printer deletes all fonts downloaded with a job after use.
