Work with a transaction marked with a question
mark
Money marks a
transaction with a question mark (
?) if it cannot
match (The process of
combining two transactions in your account register that are
actually the same transaction. These duplicate transactions
typically occur when you enter transactions manually and then
download transactions from your bank.) a transaction from an
online update with any of the transactions you've entered into your
account
(A
group of transactions in Money for a single bank, brokerage,
retirement, loan, or credit card account. Accounts can also track
assets such as houses or vehicles, or investments that you want to
watch but do not own. See also watch account.) . Review each
transaction with a question mark to determine if it's a new entry
or if it can be combined with an existing transaction.
- Click Banking, and then click Account
List.
- Click the name of an account.
- Click the transaction, and then click
Accept.
You can match a bank transaction to
one or more transactions that you previously entered; however, you
can't match it to something that's already matched to another
entry.
- Click Banking, and then click Account
List.
- Click the name of an account.
- Click the transaction, and then click
Change.
- Click Match this transaction to an item in my
register.
- Select the check box for each entry you want to match to the
bank transaction.
- Click Done.
Tip
To quickly enter all unmatched transactions as new items in your
account register, in the left pane, click Reconcile
transactions, and then click Accept all unmatched
transactions.
Notes
- If you combine two transactions, you cannot unmatch them later.
If you aren't sure about a match, keep the bank transaction as a
new, separate transaction. You can then review your register later
to compare the transactions and decide which one to keep.
- If an entry is dimmed, it has been matched to another bank
transaction. You must unmatch those entries before you can make a
new match between transactions.
