Send Mail
Perform SMTP Authentication (RFC 2554) If your ISP's POP3 server requires SMTP authentication, check this.
Use settings of Mail Retrieval Choose this setting if no additional username or password is needed for SMTP authentication.
Use specific settings If you choose this option you get two further fields: User and Password. Fill in the correct information, which you can get from your system administrator or ISP.
Require secure (MD5) authentication Check for servers using MD5 authentication.
Use POP before SMTP authentication Your server may require you to fetch mail (with your password) before you can send messages.
Only available with The Bat! Professional:
Store password on the token The password for sending mail is stored on the hardware token you have.
Enable Biometric authentication (Requires TLS) If you have a hardware token with biometric authentication - fingerprint - you can use this.
Cache it for [ ] Minutes Enter the time you want The Bat! to remember your authentication (password or fingerprint).
Beware: Although it is very convenient to send mail without entering your password or fingerprint every time, the longer the cache period is the easier it gets for unauthorised people to use your e-mail account!
Regular Choose this for normal, open password request.
MSN (NTML) Choose this for MSN/Hotmail accounts.
Compuserve (RPA) Choose this setting when you receive mail through Compuserve.
MD5 APOP Challenge/Response (RFC-1734) Choose this for APOP authentication.
MD5 CRAM-HMAC Challenge/Response (RFC-2095) Choose this if your ISP or system administrator requires CRAM authentication.
Do not store password, prompt on mail retrieval If you choose this setting, you will be prompted to fill in your password every time you retrieve messages from the server.
Beware: If you let The Bat! remember your password somebody else can retrieve your e-mail while your computer is unattended.
Only available with The Bat! Professional:
Token MD-5 CRAM-HMAC Challenge/Response Choose this if CRAM is required and you use a hardware token with The Bat!.
