The Bat!'s own internal OpenPGP implementation
conforms to RFC 1991 and offeres you the most basic features with
IDEA as the encryption algorithm.
After choosing the internal implementation (see Installing PGP support):

Go to Tools->OpenPGP->OpenPGP preferences |

Always encrypt to default key - useful to encrypt to your own
key, otherwise you won't be able to read sent messages |

Compress data before encryption |

Cache decryption passphrases/keys for - set the amount of time
you want your private key sitting in memory for easier
decryption |

Cache signing passphrases/keys for - set the amount of time you
want your private key sitting in memory for easier signing |
Beware: These two options can make
you vulnerable. It is possible for a third party to extract or use
your cached keys/passphrases!

Comment block - add any text you like to your key, e.g. the
OpenPGP version you use. |
