Use a standard password with your Money
file
You can choose
to associate your Money file with a Windows Live ID or use a
standard Money password. If you associate your Money file with a
Windows Live ID, you can view your Money information by using any
computers that is connected to the Internet. If you choose to use a
standard Money password, your Money information will be available
only on the computer on which your Money program is installed.
To set up a new Money file with a
standard Money password:
- Start Money.
- On the File menu, point to
New, and then click New
File.
- In the File name box, type a name for the new
Money file, and then click OK.
- On the Thank you for using Microsoft Money
page, click Next.
- On the Choose how you sign in to Money page,
click I want to create a Money password, and then
click Next.
- In the Password box, type a password, and then
in the Confirm password box, retype the
password.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
In an existing Money file, to
replace your Windows Live ID with a standard Money password:
- If you haven't done so
already, turn off remote access for your Money
information.
- On the
Tools menu, click
Settings.
- Click Receive account updates from MSN Money My
Accounts.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
- On the File menu, click Password
Manager.
- Click Remove.
- Click I want to remove my Windows Live ID from my Money
file, and then click Next.
- Click Done.
- On the File menu, click Password
Manager.
- Select I want to use a Money password, and
then click Next.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
