The developers of The Bat! have been working in close contact with the program's users. Version 3 has taken over a year in development to better meet the needs of modern e-mailing:

† flexible user interface
Default glyphs can now use transparent images and a greater number of graphic file formats;
  alternative glyph sets can be downloaded from www.ritlabs.com.

† the Sorting Office has a new front end making complex filters easy to create and manage

† Virtual Folders help organize e-mail more efficiently
Create lists of messages gathered from anywhere in your e-mail database.

† Mail Chat allows instantaneous e-mail communication
Unlike instant messenger programs The Bat! Mail Chat does maintain the safety of your computer.
Communication takes place through your trusted mail servers, and chat messages are checked by Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam filters like any other mail.

† Bayesian filter plug-in included!
Bayesian filtering is one of the most effective spam detection algorithms available.
The BayesIt! plug-in detects URLs used in spam messages, too, making spam filtering more effective.

† connect to Microsoft Exchange Servers using The Bat! via native MAPI protocol

† MSI-based, digitally signed installation package
You can verify the digital signature before installing The Bat! to make sure the installer hasn't been modified in transit.
System administrators can now install The Bat! easily over networks.

† Version 3.5 introduces a fully customizable user interface.
