General settings
Mark message as read when it is being read for - Enter the time your message shall be treated as unread if highlighted. Note: Changing the status of a message to "read" may result in further actions, e.g. filtering or creation of reading confirmations.
Mark message as read only when it is open in a separate window - A message has to be opened in a Folder View window to be marked read.
Maximum Log file size - Limit the size of the log file.
Ignore 'Check All Accounts' request - Choose this option if you don't want the current account checking mail when other accounts are checking. This is a handy option for accounts that have new mail at longer intervals (for instance only once a week).
Allow 8 bit characters in message header - If you check this, The Bat! will send messages with special characters (umlauts etc.) in the header section. Otherwise they are encoded.
Allow send/fetch without entering the access password (if any) - Check and you are not asked to enter your password for every send/fetch command.
Empty Trash folder on exit - Empties your Trash folder according to its folder preferences when The Bat! is quit.
Compress all folders on exit - Removes any data marked deleted from your message base when you exit The Bat!. Note: This can prolong the closing of The Bat! considerably if your message base is large.
