ABBYY Lingvo Settings


ABBYY Lingvo offers you a wide choice of settings to make your work with the dictionary more comfortable and enjoyable:

Description

Appearance

Main window  Use your mouse to resize the window and change its location. Similarly, you can move about dictionary cards and dialog boxes.

You can change the fonts, their colour and sizes on the Fonts tab of the Options dialog box (Tools>Options).

Interface language You can change the interface language by selecting the required language from the Interface language drop-down list on the General tab of the Options dialog box (Tools>Options).
Toolbars You can show/hide toolbars by selecting/deselecting them in the View menu or in the local menu of the corresponding bar. 

Languages and Dictionaries

Languages... You can change the current translation direction by selecting the required source and target language on the Languages bar.

The dictionaries for the selected languages will be displayed on the Bookshelf and their words will be displayed in the word list.

In the multilingual edition of ABBYY Lingvo, you can choose to enable all the languages of all the enabled dictionaries for full-text searches and translating from other applications.

Dictionaries... You can group dictionaries together and place the group you need at the moment onto the Bookshelf

You can also arrange the dictionaries on the Bookshelf in any order that best suits your translation needs.

You can also create your own user dictionaries and cards to them as you work.

Translation

Full-text search You can adjust the search options on the Search tab of the Options dialog box (Tools>Options).
Magic Keys You can tune the hot keys used to translate words and phrases from other applications on the Magic Keys tab of the Options dialog box (Tools>Options).
